WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

The Addams Family The Addams Family is based on Charles Addams' classic cartoon family which was later introduced as a TV series.

Made in 1991 The Addams Family film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and was a considerable advance on the approach and concept of The Addams Family.

The story line is that the families bent lawyer disguises one of his clients sons as an impostor to "long-lost Uncle Fester", Gomez's brother, the imposter then try's to steal the families millions. However you can almost say this is a sub story line as much of the film is based around the spooky goings on of the Addams Family.

Christina plays the part of Wednesday Addams, Gomez and Morticia's impassive daughter. She plays a reasonable size role in this film and delivers some great gags. Such as the school play scene where Wednesday and Pugsley drench half the audience in stage blood. Other scenes involve Wednesday strapping Pugsley into an electric chair and throwing the lever and also when both of them set up a lemonade stand outside their motel. The lemonade contained arsenic!

The films closes with the audience discovering that the imposter Fester is actually the real Fester who had lost his memory......convenient!!!

REVIEWS

Virgin "What's on Video" Review

They're creepy and they're kooky and they're here on the big screen. The Addams' crooked lawyer hatches a scheme to get his hands on their millions by introducing an imposter as long-lost Uncle Fester, back to claim his rightful inheritance. A huge theatrical success, Huston and Julia are perfect as the love struck Morticia and Gomez.

Elliots Guide To Films On Video

For over 50 years the irrelevant and sinister cartoon-strip created by Charles Addams amused readers of the New Yorker. Then came an anaemic TV show. Now this very full-blooded and lavish film. Though having little plot (Uncle Fester may or may not be an imposter) it affords ample scope for an excellent cast to do their diabolical best in celebrating the morbid and often tasteless imagination of Addams. A kind of live action "cartoon".
